Under 12 Boys claim win over Simonstown

Walterstown V Simonstown

Saturday 21st April, Walterstown Under 12 boys answered the calling to go and battle against Simonstown’s on their home turf.

The Walterstown boys showed up in good spirits and well prepared for battle. The coaches lined out the two teams and put the finishing touches to the paperwork before sending the captains down for the coin toss. The captains smartly chose to play against the odds of the slope and wind in the first half while they had fresh legs.

The whistles were blown and the games began, Simonstown won the throw in and managed a couple of quick scores early in the game. The Walterstown backs kept the Simonstown scoreboard contained doing sterling work to clear the ball out to the midfielders. The Walterstown goalkeepers made some great kick outs against the wind, always finding a familiar black jersey. The Boys settled into the game and the connections from keepers, backs and midfielders formed an excellent foundation for the ball to be pushed up the field and into the hands of the Walterstown sharpshooters,to hammer home some scores. It was neck and neck at halftime on score board as the officials blew the whistle and teams rotated.

In the second half, Simonstown came out strong and won the throw in, moving the ball into shooting range of the Walterstown goal, but shooting a wide. The Walterstown keepers used the advantage of the high winds to carry the ball downfield to the midfielders and forwards waiting to sweep it up. Walterstown dominated and retained most of the possession for the second half, with the high goal kicks and winning the Simonstown kick outs.

The final whistles were blown and the scores combined, Walterstown were victorious!!, with a great score line show for their excellent efforts. The boys demonstrated great skill, teamwork and respect on and off the pitch.

We would like to thank Simonstown for hosting the game and wish them well in their endeavors. COYBIB.
