Lismullen in Historic Double

Lismullen NS 3-6 Kentstown NS 2-5

The game was only five minutes on when both number 14’s Darragh Cantwell (Kentstown) and Lismullen’s Lee Cahill raised green flags. Ciaran Cox was on hand to finish to the Kentstown net after Adam Murphy free kick dropped short and Lismullen went in at the break 2-3 to 1-3 ahead.

The very impressive Donal Commons kicked his fourth point of the game after ten minutes of the second half to leave a three points between the teams 2-5 to 1-5 and soon after Darragh Campbell got his second goal to tie up the game. But Lismullen found an extra gear. Ciaran Cox got in for his second major and Troy Campbell raised his fourth white flag to seal a great victory for the boys in Black and White.

Girls Division 2 Final: Fabulous double for Lismullen

The girls of Lismullen completed an historic double for the school by beating Gaelscoil Eanna to claim the Division 2 football title in the third game of the day.

Lismullen 2-3 Gaelscoil Eanna 0-5

Thanks to a Lisa O’Neill goal and a point from Alba Mullen the winners raced in to a  1-1 to 0-0 lead after ten minutes. Gaelscoil Eanna eventually got of the mark with a Niamh Nic Aonghusa point. The same player added a second mintes late as Lismullen went in at the break 1-1 to 02 ahead.

The second half was another even affair. O’Neill got a second goal. Gaelscoil needed a goal but could not find a way through a determined Lismullen defence and had to settle for points through Sorcha de Paor (2) and substitute Abi Ni Fhaoghain.

In the end it was Lismullen who claimed their first title since 2006 to complete a great double. After the game team captain Jernnifer Lynch was presented with the Division 2 Cup.

Walterstown v Walterstown : 

The girls final was a little unusual in that a lot of the girls on both sides play their club football for Walterstown, which is a great sign of thing to come. Hard luck to the Gaelscoil Eanna Girls

After the matches it was back to Walterstown for a little celebration
