Why Strictly?

We have been planning for a number of years to further develop our BACK PITCH with the addition of ball stop nets and floodlights, the opportunity had now arisen to complete this project following the grant of Department of Sport funding towards the project.The project will have three parts:

  1. Ball Stop nets and poles; The provision of nets behind the goals will allow for greater control during games and training. The nets will be 30 metres high and will be retractable in Winter.
  2. Floodlighting;Lighting will be installed to allow teams train during dark evenings. The lighting will be to GAA training level standard and will extend the use of the pitch throughout Autumn and Winter which will be valuable given the increased demand on pitches.
  3. Storage facilities for equipment and playing gear;

Outline of proposed development

We plan to build a storage facility for grounds equipment and included in this we will have a secure storage area for teams playing equipment. Each team will be provided with a lockable area to store training equipment, this will ensure that the equipment is available for teams on site. 3(b). Skills Wall; The plan is to integrate a skills wall into one side of the storage facility mentioned above.

Before this work can commence we need to raise a percentage of the grant in order to be able to draw down the grant. The aim is that the Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser will go along way to raising these funds.

Current Stage Of Stricly:

Currently were are recruiting people willing to dance on the night. The plan is to have 20 sets of dancers who will perform. We are currently very close to this target but need one or two more bodies. If you are interested in dancing in Strictly and are willing to support the club in a huge way, please contact Philip Cassidy 087 243 0687 or Paddy Stafford 087 2364011 for more information.
