The Walterstown girls got off to a steady start in their semi final yesterday against Moylagh with 4 points in a row. 3 points from Mollie Browne and 1 from Marie Mc Carthy gave them the lead against a strong breeze before Moylagh replied with 2 of their own. 2 more points from Sophie Dempsey and   Marie Mc Carthy left Walterstown leading at Half time 0-6 v 0-2. Playing with the wind in the second half Walterstown pushed on and 2 goals from Marie Mccarthy left the Walterstown girls in a great position but a late goal and a couple of points for Moylagh left a nervous end to the game. Final score Walterstown 2-6 v Moylagh 1-4.
In the Final Walterstown faced a very strong St.Pats side who won all their games very comfortably over the weekend. Again Wal.won the toss and captain Sophie Dempsey decided to play against the breeze which proved to be decisive as the Walterstown backs of Kate Mc Carthy, Ciara Killen, Mollie Browne, Sarah Heffernan and Niamh Mcguinness held the St.Pats girls to 1-2 with the wind while on the other end of the pitch the forwards worked their socks off with their tackling and with a goal from Ailish ( Maddser) Madden and a point from Mollie Browne left Walterstown in a great position at half time.Wal 1-1.St.Pats 1-2. The first 8 mins of the second half was tit for tat as both teams played some great football but no one could predict what was about to happen as the Walterstown girls out scored St.Pats by 5-1 to 0-1. 3 goals from a brilliant Marie Mc Carthy a point from Captain Sophie Dempsey and another goal from Ailish ( Maddser ) Madden finished off a brilliant team performance. Final score Walterstown 6-2 v St. Pats 1-3.

Every girl on the panel was absolutely brilliant over the weekend and everyone of them done their parents and the club proud. The Celebrations began at the end of the game when Captain Sophie Dempsey lifted the shield
Was just reward for the effort that all the girls put in over the 2 days.
