Walterstown V Trim Sat 30th July
Walterstown played Trim in the Second round of Intermediate C.ship in Castletown on Saturday evening. This was a highly entertaining encounter with both sides playing fast attacking football. Walterstown got off to a dream start and Walterstown Mentor, Meath legend, Martin O Connell must have been very pleased when son Brian, scored an amazing 2-2 in the first 5 minutes. However Trim weathered this storm which saw them 2-3 to 0-1 down after 8 minutes. Walterstown’s backs now came under a lot of pressure as Trim slowly cut the deficit point by point. By the interval Trim were only 1 point adrift with the score at 2-06 to 0-11.
In the second half again Walterstown were quickest off the mark with a point from Aaron McLoughlin and a Ruairi O Dowd goal from a penalty. Half way through the second half the Blacks were 4 points ahead but again Trim fought back and with 3 mins remaiming the scores were level for the first time in the match. However Walterstown kept their heads and well-taken points by Cormac Madden and Aaron McLoughlin, left them winners on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-16.
