It was an early start for all the Under 12 girls (and their parents!) in Walterstown this Easter Saturday morning with kick off against Seneschalstown at 10:00am.
The first half boded well for our u12 girls with a striking lead of 4 goals and 5 points to 1 point for the opposition. Sarah Jane Lyons played a blinder again today racking up 3 points and goal in this half, while Zoey Harte scored an equally impressive 1 point and 2 goals. Lucy Reynolds covered a remarkable amount of ground during the match and seemed to appear where ever the ball was. Grace Deegan scored a lovely goal in the first half and although she was sometimes hard to make out amongst all the ponytails – her distinctive little jump while kicking the ball always gave her away.
Walterstown displayed skill and determination again in the second half, and while the Senechalstown girls played some lovely football the score line favoured the home team. Sarah Jane again scored point after point and finished the game with a blast of a goal. Emily Reilly played a great game too and added her name to the score sheet, along with Zoey who scored another goal in the second half. Strong defending by Tiarnach Henry McFadden in mid field, fast pace by Caoimhe McKenna and some lovely play by Amy Behan made the game very enjoyable to watch. Meabh McCarrick also played a crucial role in goals making lots of saves.
All round it was a great day for Walterstown U12 girls.
