On Sunday morning Walterstown played Ashbourne in round 5 of the spring league at home. The match threw in at 11 on a sunny but breezy morning.

Our girls were on the attack right from the start with Sarah Jane Lyons, Lauren Genocchi and Aimee Kilroy all kicking points. Walterstown extended their lead with two  goals from Aimee and sarah Jane before Ashbourne hit back with two goals of their own. The Walterstown forwards were in fine form adding two more points to their tally
 Katie Twoomey of Ashbourne , a tall, skilful and direct footballer was their main threat. Rosanna O Neill did a fine job limiting her influence on the game, with the home team coming in at half time with a two goal and two point margin

Ashbourne were beginning to tire in the second half and Walterstown were dominating , with michaela McMahon directing from midfield . Kate Murphy ,Lauren Genocchi and sarah Jane Lyons added further scores to maintain the lead after two more goals from Ashbourne . The Walterstown back line deserve a special mention as they have been superb all season.
