Walterstown Under 13’s started their under 13 league with a one point defeat against O’Mahoneys.
In a highly competitive game that ebbed and flowed, Walterstown gave up 3 early points at the start of the first half before getting to grips with the pace of the game. Some solid team play meant that half time score was 7-6 to the Home team.
Hit by an early O’Mahoneys goal in the second half, Walterstown dug deep & from a position of being 6 points down with 15 minutes to go, the boys leveled the game in the final minutes. Unfortunately O’Mahoneys were able to muster one last attack & managed to kick the winning point with one the last kicks of the game.
An encouraging performance from a very young squad that was hit with 3 key injuries to the more senior players before and during the game.
Next up is St Cuthberts in Walterstown on the 26th of September.
