Its not often where a team scores eight goals but don’t secure the points, but that’s what happened on a cold spring evening in Drumbarragh last evening. Walterstown started the brighter and thanks to two early goals from Adam Quinn settled into an early lead. Diarmaid Freeman also got in on the act finding the back of the net, with what was to be his first of a hat trick of goals.

Half time saw the backs 3:04 to 1:3 to the good.

After the break goals from Troy Campbell O’Brien and Diarmaids second  and a Jamie Flynn goal saw Walterstown’s lead grow to 6:04 to 1:06. A tactical change by Roundtowers in switching their number 8 “Jimmy” to center forward was to change the game dramatically. He is an exceptional player and single handily set about reducing Walterstown’s lead, with a succession of goals and points, this despite Walterstown doubling up on the player. Further goals from Euan Burton and Diarmaids third were not enough to secure the victory.
