Our Under 14’s lads played their fourth round game of this years summer league in Walterstown against Don/Ashbourne last Thursday evening.
With Walterstown down to the bare bones due to holidays and injuries this game was going to be close run affair !!! .

We got off the mark first with a very well taken goal by John Cullen to get the scoring in motion. From the first whistle our lads looked focused and determined to trash out a similar result as the recent clash between these two side in the Div 1 final.
Luke Cullen scored a brace of long distance frees to keep the score board ticking over. Half-way through the half Waltersown were awarded a penalty , which was dually dispatched by Alex McGovern, another goal was added with five minutes left in the half by Adam Cummins after some good work by JC on wing !
Half time score – Walterstown 3-4 Don/Ash 0-4
At half time we knew the Ashbourne lads were going to come out fighting!. They sored a goal and a point without reply and were on the front foot for the first 10 minutes of the half.
Our lads settled down and defended well at times to run down the clock,
Another well taken goal by John Cullen (hat-trick) with ten minutes to go took the wind out of our opponents and virtual sealed the win.

Final score – Walterstown 5-6 V Don / Ashbourne 2-6.

Next up for our lads is a top of the table clash with St Colmcilles in Piltown next Thursday evening 23rd at 7 p,m.

Well done to all players 🙂
