On a blustery Sunday Morning Walterstown faced St Colmcilles on the Division 1 Shield final in Dunganny.

Both sides seemed to struggle with the conditions in what was a very uneventful opening half , in fact just one point was scored by St Colmcilles, although Walterstown spurned several opportunities to take the lead, and Walterstown were playing with the wind.

St Colmcilles converted 3 points in the opening 10 minutes of the second half to take a 4 point lead. 15 minutes in Walterstown registered their first score of the game, this seamed to lift the girls and they began the fightback , scoring 4 points and Aoife Keegan scoring a goal to give Walterstown a 1:5 to 0:04 lead. Heading into the final minutes St Colmcilles notched up another two points to Walterstowns 1 point. In injury time Cilles scored a point to reduced Walterstowns lead to 2 points before on 33 minutes Walterstown’s hearts were broken when Cilles found the back of the net and clinched the shield by a solitary point.
