U14 Div 1 Championship: Walterstown are through to the Cup semi-final winning a fantastic battling performance this evening in Rataoth. Walterstown 3-8 Rataoth 2-9. Next up Dunshaughlin on 3rd Sep

The U14s from Walterstown & Ratoath renewed rivalries on Thursday evening in Ratoath in the U14 Championship. These two sides have met regularly already this season sharing the major U14 Div1 trophies between them with Ratoath securing the Feile title defeating Walterstown in the final while newly promoted Walterstown secured the Div1 League title defeating Ratoath @ the semi-final stage of that competition.

Ratoath played with a strong breeze behind them in the 1st half and got off to an ideal start picking off two points before Walterstown picked off their 1st score of the evening when they rattled the Ratoath net and followed this up quickly with a well taken point. Unfazed Ratoath battled on and found the net twice during the 1st half and stretched their lead over the course of the 1st half to go in 7pts to the good at half time.

A revitalized Walterstown appeared in the second half with the wind at their backs and within 7 minutes had the deficit back to the minimum as they added a 01:03 to their tally. Over the course of the next 6-7 minutes the game was in the melting pot and the sides traded scores before Walterstown struck the next again and secured the lead, a lead they would never relinquish despite constant Ratoath pressure.
