Our under 14’s had their first competitive outing of the year in the form of the Feile qualifier weekend.
We were in a group with pre tournament favourites O’Mahonys as well as Na Fianna.
Each of our 22 squad got game time which was the main objective. We beat NaFianna with some very good play and we’ll taken goals. However, O’Mahonys proved why they were installed as favourites and beat us well in the end after a spirited display by this very young team (15 of the 22 are under 14 again next year).
With only one team qualifying from each group it was O’Mahonys that went on to the semis were they inflicted a heavy defeat on St. Cuthberts and then they hammered Seneschalstown in the final.
Next up is hopefully a challenge match next weekend and then the league starts the following Saturday were this group of boys should be quietly confident of doing well.
