Under 13’s League Division 2 Semi Final Playoff
Walterstown v St Peters Dunboyne 25.10.2016
A playoff was required to decide which team would face Oldcastle in the division 2 semi-final scheduled for Saturday 3rd November. Our Dunboyne neighbours had inflicted a heavy 13-point defeat on our lads when they met in the league 4 weeks ago. The home team were prepared to avenge this defeat and knew a solid focused performance was required for the full 50 minutes.
A generous crowd cheered on the lads in black who started brightly and quickly scored the first point of the match after 2 minutes. It quickly became apparent that a well prepared Walterstown team were not going to let St Peters gain the upper hand as scores were traded over the course of the first 15 minutes. An impressive Dunboyne keeper was keeping the home teams’ forwards at bay until a lively Oliver Maloney managed to find the back of the net. With confidence growing quick points followed and by half time Walterstown had opened up a well-deserved 5-point lead.

Caoilinn Campbell O’Brien was leading the charge from the half back line and the Walterstown lads were scoring points with ease. More well worked and well taken goals followed which allowed the home team increase their commanding lead.
