Walterstown VS Skryne
Walterstown played Skryne in the A League on Sunday in Walterstown. Though missing several players through injury, they were hoping for a home win. With all their goalkeepers absent on the day Walterstown had to play midfielder Alban Crosbie in goal. Playing with the wind in the first half they still gave a good account of themselves and at the interval the scores were level at 0-6 apiece. In defence Colin McGrane, Davy Reynolds and Peter Reynolds worked hard to stifle the Skryne attack. Conor McGuinness, Alan Wall and Eoin O Mahony ( Just back from a shoulder operation also worked hard. Forwards Aaron Mc Loughlin and John Geoghegan scored 0-2 each while Paul Donnellan and Brian O Connell also scored in the first half. The Blacks were guilty of missing some chances though, which would have seen them a few points ahead. In the second half Skryne got off to an excellent start, reeling off 3 unanswered points. Walterstown replied with 2 well taken points by mid-fielder Ruairi O Dowd and corner forward Brian O Connell. Walterstown defended well but as in the first half they were wasteful in front of goal and Skryne were winning by 0-11 to 0-9 when David Gough blew for full time.
