Walterstown 1:08  St Pats 3:12

Walterstowns B team took on St Pats on Saturday evening in Skryne in the B league Final.

Pats got off to a great start scoring a point and a goal in the first five minutes. It wasn’t until the ninth minute that Walterstown registered their first point , from the boot of Mark McCormack , which was followed up 6 minutes later when Brian O Connell rattled the back of the net to draw the two sides level. Pats notched up 3 unanswered points before Sean Irwin almost scored a goal for Walterstown only to see his effort come back off the post. Pats went on to score another 3 points and a goal to extend their lead, which was reduced by 2 frees converted by Mark McCormack just before half time.

After the interval two more points from Walterstown reduced Pats lead to 5 points, with both teams trading points for the next few minutes.Darren McMahon then pulled off a fantastic save to stop a certain goal from Pats and tipped the ball over the cross bar. With the game entering the final ten minutes, Jack Hennelly came on for Sean Irwin, only to get his marching orders shortly after. Another goal from Pats closed out the game, ensuring their third successive league win in as many years.
