Walterstown  Vs Castletown –IFC 3rd Round in Rathkenny.   Aug 7th 2016

Walterstown 1-16    Castletown 2-13

Walterstown and Castletown played in the 3rd round of the championship in windy Rathkenny last Sunday.  Playing against a very strong wind, Walterstown got off to a great start. After just 10 minutes they were 1-07 to 0-1 to the fore, with John Geoghegan contributing 1-02 from play. In the 12th minute Walterstown’s influential centre forward Tom Walsh was red-carded. However Walterstown’s 14 men still went in 1-10 to 0-6 ahead at half time. Now, though playing with the wind in the second half Walterstown saw their lead slowly shrink. Castletown made good use of their one man advantage and made life difficult for the Walterstown defence. Walterstown were a goal up when somehow Castletown engineered the equalizing, last gasp goal in injury time.
