The Meath GAA Competitions Controls Committee (CCC) today, Thursday, May 27, released the result of the 2021 Cup draws, which are expected to get underway on Wednesday, June 9. Walterstown, once again, will compete in the Corn na Boinne.

Walterstown find themselves in Group B of the Corn na Boinne and they will take on Duleek-Bellewstown in the first round of the competition; a game that will be a home fixture for the Blacks. Also in Group B are Athboy side Clann na nGael, Rathkenny, Blackhall Gaels and St Pat’s of Stamullen.

It is expected that the cup competitions will be played on a Wednesday evening, however this has still to be confirmed by the CCC.

Of course the Blacks still have the 2020 Corn na Boinne final against Castletown outstanding and that, subject to confirmation, is due to be fixed for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Martin O’Connell’s side had a penultimate round win over St Michael’s back in late September 2020, however the decider fell foul to Covid-19 restrictions thereafter. Before that they got the better of Ballinabrackey, Clann na nGael and Duleek-Bellewstown.
