The Ladies faced Duleek/Bellewstown in the latest round of the Championship on Wednesday evening. The glorious weather of the past few days had taken a leave of absence, and in heavy rainfall and muggy temperatures the ladies took to the field.

Missing several of their main players due to “that time of year” it was always going to be a challenge for a very young Walterstown side. They did however hold their own with an always were in touching distance of Duleek, until Duleek scored the only goal of the game just before half time

Half Time : Walterstown Ladies 0-6(6)  Duleek 1-7(10)

After the break the rain persisted, and with a hard ground and slippery surface, several stoppages occurred. Three points in the opening minutes, from Edel McGrane, Mollie Brown and Lisa O Neill saw Walterstown reduce Duleeks lead to a single point. It was nip and tuck thereafter but a sin bin for Walterstown towards the end of the half saw Duleek take advantage of the extra player and stretch their lead back to four points.

Final Score : Walterstown 0:11 Duleek Bellewstown 1:12

For Walterstown : Ciara Looby, Sarah Finnegan, Niamh Reynolds, Eleanor Murchan, Sinead Cox,  Leanne O Neill, Laura Fox, Edel McGrane, Antonia Brady, Sarah Heffernan, Molly Gray, Mollie Brown, Lauren Sower, Martina O Neill, Lisa O Neill.
