It was a bad day at the office for the lads on Sunday. In crisp Spring sunshine then took to the field against a Moynalvey side that drew their opening game with St Michael’s.
Moynalvey opening the scoring after 3 mins with a point, and could have raced into a bigger lead only to see their effort come off the bottom of the post. Arron McLoughlin drew Walterstown level on 5 minutes and Ruari O Down game them the lead 2 minutes later with a converted free. Moynalvey registered their second score on 9 minutes , but a period of Walterstown domination saw points from Brian O Connell, and Johnny Geoghegan. Moynalvey responded with points of their own and again on 27 mins brought out a fine save from John Davis in the Walterstown goal. Half time Moynalvey 0:06 Walterstown 0:04 and Walterstown were still in the game.
That changed however in the second half with two goals in two minutes giving the Home team the upper hand. David Donnelan was injured and replaced by Kashif Ali only 6 mins into the second half. Moynalvey then pushed on racking up further points (3 ) ,after Ruari O Dowd converted his second point of the day, and then added a third goal. Barry O Connell then found the back of the 20 mins into the second half but it wasn’t to be Walterstowns day with Moynalvey getting a four goal which saw them ease across the line.
