It is with great sadness that the club has learned of the passing of Paul Lanney. Paul won an Under 17 Champiosnhip with Walterstown in 1976. He went on to win three Under 21 Championships with the club in 1978, 1979 and 1980 and was also also part of the panel that tasted Senior Football Championship success. He also won a Junior B title in the black jersey.
Paul later moved to Nobber, where he also immersed himself in GAA activity, while professionally he was best known for running Lanney’s SuperValu in Ardee.
Our sympathies to Paul’s wife Margaret and his sons Barry, Mark and David and to all his extended family.
The images included show Paul during his playing days in Walterstown. The first one shows Paul (third from the right in the back row) in a team picture with the victorious 1976 U17 team.
The second image show Paul (second from left in the back row) lining out for the Under 21 team in 1980, while the third show Paul (first on right in the back row) in the 1979 Under 21 final team picture. Paul played in the middle of the field that day alongside Neil O’Sullivan.
