Walterstown came up against league leaders Ratoath on Wednesday evening in found 5 of the AFL. This was a close encounter throughout the first half, with neither team building a lead. Walterstowns first goal of the game came via good link up play between Albin Crosbie and Brian O Connell. Ratoath when into the break four points to the good.

Walterstown came out flying after the break and within a minute of the restart Brian O Connell bagged his second goal of the game. Three points in sucession saw Walterstown take the lead. Ratoath scored a point back but Paul Donnelan hit the back of the net again for the blacks which saw Walterstown take a 3:07 to 1:09 lead. This only seemed to spark Ratoath into life and they scored a goal of the own and another point to level the game half way though the second half. The momentum had now swung and after another goal for Ratoath, they were 4 points clear with 5 minutes remaining. Four points in the final minutes for Walterstown in the last few minutes were not enough to secure the victory.
