Walterstown V Kilbride
The Blacks played host to Kilbride on Saturday in Round 3 of Division 2. After a win against O Mahonys in the last round the lads wanted to keep the momentum going with another strong display. Our lads got off the mark early with two quick points from open play before Kilbride managed to get into our half and score. The first half was a true game of nip and tuc with both teams on the offensive. Eoin Heffernan was brilliant for the Blacks in defence reading Kilbride’s attacking play well and repeatedly getting to the breaking ball. Both teams scored well and shared 4 goals between them by half time.

The second half stared brightly with Kilbride gaining the upper hand in the first 10 minutes scoring two quick goals. The home team regrouped and kept the score board ticking over with well taken points. The Impressive trio of Caighlum Mulvey, Oliver Maloney and Fionnan O Connor showed their class and helped drive the team forward continuously. With 5 minutes to go the home team were 4 points down but 2 quick goals from Neil McGinley and Caighlum Mulvey brought the home team back into the lead. The lads pressed ahead and with Kilbride heads dropping lots of points went over the bar as the referee played several minutes of extra time. Well taken scores from Robbie Davis and Sean McGuinness caught the eye. Another impressive team performance. Hon the Blacks.
