Walterstown started their 2015 campaign under new manager Joey Farrelly with a 6 point win over Drumbaragh.
Walterstown started the match the brightest, Christopher Reynolds opened the scoring with 3 minutes gone before Kevin Devine, Ruairi O’Dowd and an Alban Crosbie free added further points to give Walterstown a 4 point lead with 16 minutes gone. Drumbaragh opened their account with the next 2 points of the game to reduce the blacks lead to just 2 points and had a great chance of scoring a goal only for a great save from Walterstown Captain John Davis.
Walterstown finished the half the strongest scoring 4 points with no reply, 2 each from Alban Crosbie and Robbie McDonnell to leave Walterstown leading 0-8 v 0-2 at Half Time.
Drumbaragh came out in the second half determined to get back in the game and scored a goal in the opening minutes to reduce the deficit to 3 points.  Walterstown did not let this goal unsettle them and with Ruairi O’Dowd leading the way scoring 1-04 in the second half, the Blacks held out to secure the win and give them a winning start to 2015.
