Alban Crosbie stars as Walterstown win their 2nd match of the league campaign
The senior team came into this looking to bounce back from their loss to Gaeil Colmcille in the previous round of the league.
Walterstown opened the scoring when they were awarded a penalty inside 2 minutes of the start with Alban Crosbie converting. David Donnellan added a point 2 minutes later to go 4 ahead. Castletown started to settle more into the game and got their first score with 10 minutes gone, they added a further 1-02 in the next 5 minutes to go 2 points ahead with 15 minutes gone. Walterstown finished the half the strongest scoring 6 unanswered points to lead 1-7 to 1-03, with half time appraoching the referee awarded the second penalty of the match with Castletown converting and reducing the blacks lead with the sides going in at the break – Walterstown 1-07 v Castletown 2-03.
Castletown brought the sides level inside the 1st minute of the second half and went ahead a minute later. With Castletown dominating in possession the blacks were lucky not to go further behind however the Walterstown defence defended well and kept the gap to just a point. Walterstown were awarded a free on the 13th minute which Alban Crosbie scored to bring the sides level once again and Robbie McDonnell added a point 5 minutes later to put Walterstown back in front. Walterstown then were awarded their 2nd penalty and with Alban Crosbie converting with 6 minutes left, Castletown were left with to much to do, they did add a point in the last few minutes however Walterstown ran out winners – Full Time score Walterstown 2-9 v Castletown 2-6
