A League Div 2

Sunday 29th April 2018

Walterstown travelled to Curraha on Sunday to play Curraha in Div 2. This was an exciting, hotly contested match played in ideal conditions. Walterstown opened the scoring with a Stephen Davis free but Curraha struck back to go 0-4 to 0-1 ahead after 15minutes. Walterstown’s Stephen Davis tacked on 2 points to leave just a point between the teams after 15 minutes. Walterstown then took the lead thanks to a well taken Brian O Connell goal, following a brilliant Michael Clarke pass. This was followed by a point from midfielder Alan Wall and another O Connell goal. At the interval Walterstown were leading by 2-4 to 0-8.

In the second half Walterstown continued to fight hard but in the 15th minute Curraha drew level after scoring a goal of their own. This they followed with 2 quick points. Even though Aron McLoughlin got Walterstown to within a point of the home team with 10 minutes to play, Curraha continued to pick off the points. Eventually when Liam Reddy blew for full time the score read 1-15 to 2-7.

Walterstown manager Eoin Carroll could not start several regular players but should be pleased with the effort put in by his team on the day.
