Walterstown VS Ballinlough A Leag Div 2 Wed 5th April 2017

Walterstown played Ballinlough under lights in Ballinlough on Wed night. Walterstown opened the scoring with a John Geoghegan point in the first minute but Ballinlough settled quickly and thanks to a penalty and 2 points were 1-2 to 0-1 ahead after 10 minutes. Walterstown responded well and by half time helped by 3 Joey Coogan points, the scores were level at 1-5 to 0-8.

After the restart Kevin Devine who was just on the pitch, scored a nice flicked goal from a Joe Coogan pass. Walterstown’ roving defender Alan Wall added another point and the score was 1-9 to 1-7 in favour of Walterstown. From then they stayed in front with 2 points from Brian O Connell and 2 more from Colin McGrane and Cormac Madden. Ballinlough battled gamely but when C Madden scored Walterstown last point, the final score in this hotly contested match was 1-13 to 1-8. On a sad note, Walterstown’s Neil Freeman suffered a shoulder dislocation in the 2nd half.
